Academic and Land-Based LearningEngaging our students in academic, and hands-on tasks that are meaningful and engaging is a critical piece to moving our learners forward. While there are many barriers that often limit one's ability to engage in academic learning, being able to complete quality learning tasks that take place in classroom, as well as on the land, are critical to building a student's ability to think both critically and creatively. Learning tasks at Central are focused on the personal interests and strengths of students, which allows for positive, personal growth in ability and confidence.
Personal awareness and responsibility involves understanding the connections between personal and social behaviour and well-being. At Central we provide opportunities for students to develop their communication skills, focus on their areas of growth, and develop strategies to manage their personal struggles. Participating and engaging with these social and emotional learning opportunities allows for meaningful growth in understanding one's personal identity, and strengths, capitalizing on the assets and strengths they inherently bring.
Students engage in a wide range of opportunities that allow them to build positive personal awareness, cultural identity and responsibility. These skills are critical for students as they begin to explore and pursue their personal goals and achievements. Participating and engaging with these learning opportunities allows for meaningful growth in understanding one's personal identity, strengths and areas of passion.
