The Gateway program is a partnership between Okanagan
College and Central Programs and Services.
The program consists of a 10 week trades exploration experience and is
open to students attending Central school.
Students who gain acceptance to the program will spend 10 weeks at Okanagan College.
While at OC, students gain both practical and theoretical
experience in a wide variety of trades, including electrical, carpentry and
plumbing. After graduating from Gateway,
students are expected to enter the Dual Credit program at OC focusing on a
specific trade. Dual Credit programs
range from 20-40 weeks in length and provide an opportunity for students to
begin college entry-level trades training while receiving credits for high
school.

Preference will be given to students who successfully complete the Pre-GateWay Program
Pre-GateWay Program
Mon-Fri, 3:00-4:30pm (6 weeks) Pre-GateWay covers:
First-Aid and FoodSafe Training/Certification
Hands-on Activities/Field Trips
Trades-related Math Skills
WorkSafe & WHMIS Training
Tool & Safety Equipment Orientation
Students who successfully complete the pre-Gateway course will qualify for consideration of entry into
the OC Gateway Program.

Monday – Friday 8:00am – 3:00pm
Cohort of 12-16 Students
10 Week Program / 300 hrs
Instruction by: Trades Qualified Instructors
12 Credits towards High School Graduation
